A Wal-Mart Win. Say What?

My daughter was finally able to pay her dad back for all the vet bills we had to help her with when her kitty got injured.  With $200 in our pockets and all bills paid, I insisted my hubby go clothes shopping.  His clothes were HORRIBLE.  All his jeans had rips on the back pockets, on the crotch, all of his shirts were ripped, holey, or stained.  Socks had lost their elastic, so had underwear.  It wasn't pretty, people.  We went through his old clothes, and we couldn't even donate anything.  We turned his old tees into shop rags and threw the jeans, socks and underwear away.  Then we went to Ross.

Ross had absolutely no jeans in my husband's size, so he got three tees and we left.  Normal tees.  One black, one green, one orange.  My husband's favorite colors are black, white and red, so the green and orange were a huge stretch for him.  Then we went to Target where he was finally able to stock up on jeans, socks, and underwear.  They even had jean shorts which I don't care for, but he loves them.  Of course, I had to check out Target's plus size section, only to realize it kinda doesn't fit me anymore.  I ended up buying two dresses from the straight size section.  Both striped maxi dress creations, and then one striped skirt.  To my dismay, it was maternity, but I liked it so much I said OH WELLSIE and bought it anyway.

Then we headed over to Wal-Mart because my husband insisted he needed at least one more pair of jean shorts.  He never did find them, but found a pair of cargo shorts that didn't disgust him, but meanwhile, I found this sweet creation and threw it into the pile of goodies.

Pardon the squinty face.  It's Florida in August, sun is literally trying to cook me.
Love.  Love this dress so much I plan to go back and buy it in every color and get rid of most of my old (too big!) clothes.  I might even have to size down in this.  It's Wal-Mart, size XL.  I wore my purple wrap top from Target over it.  It's funny that the purple top makes the stripes in my dress seem purple, but that dress is blue and white stripes!  I wore my octopus necklace from etsy, and one barrette to hold my hair back.  I am due for a coloring tonight and didn't want to put any product in my hair.

I am squinting from the bright sun, but behind me, I could hear thunder and lightning and it poured less than 5 minutes after these photos were taken.

Perfectly modest and chaste for church.  I am covered from neck to toe and frankly, I like it this way!  Plus really loving my hair.

I don't even have to hem it, it's the perfect length!  I bought this yesterday at the Wal-Mart in Deltona, FL, for $12.48.  So comfortable and pretty and yes I'm going back to get more of them.  I can wear these to work, to church, or around the house.  It is strapless but I own enough tops (which I hardly ever wear!) to throw on top of the dresses to make this work.

Besides the cute new dress, I hope you'll be in prayer for me as lots of new things are happening at church.  People who have been in kids ministry are leaving.  Not because they're upset, but job offers and moving and stuff like that.  All these years, I have been a helper, not an actual teacher.  But we're losing...get this...4 of our best teachers in less than two to three months time.  I really need to pray and decide where God wants me to serve.  I believe that all Christians can be serving in some way, large or small.  I think the main leader is assuming I'll take over one of the classes, and it scares me to no end.  Being scared doesn't eliminate what I'm supposed to do, but I don't know if this is what I'm supposed to do.  Should I be in kids ministry?  Should I try something else?  I just don't know.

That dress is a great find and your hair is adorable. I just got an overdue color and cut. Sometimes God leads us to the scariest places and to the jobs we don't think we can do, but if he calls us to it, he equips us. My husband and I have been in college age ministry for about four years and youth ministry for the last two, and we don't have kids.
