Our local KMart is closing on April 23rd, so Missy and I stopped over there. What great deals! I got 4 sheets of pegboard for Mr. R's garage for 8 bucks. Winter jackets for each kid, $6 each! And for me? LEOPARD PRINT HEELS. I know. SHUT UP. I wore heels!

And for $7, can you blame me for indulging? |

I bought this dress from Goodwill several years ago for $6. I like it; basic, neutral chocolate brown, 3/4 sleeves. You'd think I'd wear it weekly, but no. It makes me sweat, and the shoulders don't fit properly. Plus, the front rides up. I guess it's because my posterior is quite large. So I see pictures and think, hmmm, that's not as flattering as I'd like it to be. But then I keep it because it's not awful. I'm just not thrilled with it. Also wearing: olive green cami from JCP, $10, 2011. Lane Bryant necklace set, can't remember when I bought it, maybe 2005? Maybe $20? And my KMart shoes, 2012, $7! |

Here I am posing with Miss Nutmeg. |

Still keeping hair pulled back. Not sure if I should cut it. Sigh. This is such an awkward phase for me. |
So, I'd like to give you my Week 2 stats for Atkins. Blood sugar has been excellent all week. Never above 128 (fasting). Lowest was 115 one morning. I've lost 11 lbs in 2 weeks. I also got an mp3 player (not an iPod, as this was a freebie through work for my 10th anniversary) and an arm band, so now I can exercise with music. I can be honest with you guys and say that my starting weight was 271.4 (I know...and it's not even the highest weight I've ever been!) and I am at 260 right now. Unless I get pregnant, I'm hoping to be below 200 for Christmas. And I haven't been below 200 since I was around 24. (I'm about to turn 37.) Atkins is going well. I definitely need to try new veggie dishes because I'm starting to get sick of green beans and broccoli. But I feel great, I've been exercising, and of course my blood sugar has been good. So I'm sticking to it. I also tried flax seed chips and they're great. I shouldn't have done them while still on induction, but I figure they're better than popping open a family size bag of Doritos. I measured them with my digital scale and everything. Now this week will also be me doing Atkins on day one of my lovely cycle (no December baby, I'm afraid.) so I'm curious to see how I do while dealing with my salty crunchy cravings which I normally get. Be praying for me not to break down and eat any Cheez Its! (I love Parmesan cheez its, nom nom!)

I look utterly confused. Someone must have asked a math question. LOL! |

Sarah...I'm so proud of you!! I know you can do it. I'm at a healthy weight for the first time in my entire adult life....I'm 43.....
Anyway....you inspire me with the exercise! I hate that part and am quite lax.
You inspire me as well, my dear friend! I wish I had more time to bake and cook like you do. I'm clearly still not at a healthy weight, but I'm getting there! I am picky about exercise; I like it, but with the heat being what it is down here, I can only do it first thing in the morning.
I can't believe the deal on those shoes! So cute - I'd love a pair of open-toed leopard pumps! Great outfit, too - the dress is fab on you, I mean it!
One thing I love doing is going through the farmer's markets or grocery store produce aisles and getting a few vegetables that I've never tried / heard of. I've been finding some fun things that I've never had before that are really good! Like, have you ever tried beets? We chopped them up raw in a salad the other day and they're super delicious - they taste sort of like jicama, if you've ever had that.
I've never tried jicama or beets. However, I've had borscht, which has beets in it and I do not like it, so I doubt I'll ever try it again. Plus, I used to have a boss who would walk around eating beets in cottage cheese; it was so disgusting that I now cannot eat either one.
